Excited people

by Maggie Toussaint

Don't you just love standing next to someone who's quivering with excitement? I got a virtual dose of it during the recent announcements of Golden Heart and Rita finalists. I had not entered and yet I got to experience the euphoria first hand. It was energizing!

Other exciting people give off great vibes too: charismatic politicians, evangelists, birthday boys/girls, anniversary couples, college graduates, award winners, entertainment stars, well, the list goes on and on.

In teaching my yoga class, I've noticed the positive effect of good vibes. It gives veracity to that old saw, everybody loves a winner, because in truth, they enjoy basking in the glow. And I'm not just talking about the glow of success. There's more to it than that, but since this is primarily a writer's blog, I'm going to keep it simple.

Believe in yourself.

Allow yourself to be excited about your work. That positivity will go a long way towards influencing others to your point of view. Cloak yourself in the glow of success.

I also find that believing in yourself and thinking positively also helps with self-esteem and consequently with the rest of your life.

Hi Maggie,

YES!!! This is soooo true. I love to hear about other people's successes and cheer them on. It makes me feel good--just like that saying "It's better to give than to receive"! And it does make you feel energized, doesn't it!????
I enjoyed your post.

Hi, Maggie. I'm with you 100 percent. I love cheering my friends on, and get excited just because they're so excited. Emotions are contagious.

Hi Sue, Wonderful to meet another positive thinker.

Cheryl, thanks for your enthusiasm. Just reading your response energizes me.

Keena, I like the way you summed it up: emotions are contagious.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Wonderful Post Maggie!! I totally agree. It's wonderful to have someone cheering you on, and cheering on a friend oftentimes comes back in duplicate.

Especially when you hit a slump and you need that clue by four to the head. LOL Nope, not talking from experience at all. :D

I love to watch award shows for the same reason.

Hi Diana, In this crazy publishing world we are often knocked off our feet, so it's nice to be able to share in the glow of luminaries, and brings us that much closer to a luminous moment of our own!

Hey Margaret, Everyone loves a winner, so true. And conversely, have you noticed how quickly people are to abandon losers? As soon as there's a negative anything, our instinctive reaction is to pull back. I wish I could correct that across the globe, but I'm guilty of it myself at times. People are certainly complex.

Hi Liana, I enjoy the award shows too. All that gushing and excitement. No matter how much a person practices for that moment in the limelight, even folks that never make a miscue in a movie or on stage, they get all crossed up and tongue-tied in such a delightful way. I also like to check out the outfits, not that I would ever have much reason to wear evening attire but some outfits make strange statements.

Thanks for the fun and comments, friends!

Lovely post, Maggie. Sometimes I think the "Exciting Things" section on my website sounds a bit naff, but when it was being set up labelling it "News" sounded kind of flat in comparison!

Sometimes I get so excited talking about things that I go all shaky. Oh dear... is that weird?!

And yes, I love award shows - people's delight and spontaneity makes me feel sparkly happy. I also love to see what everyone is wearing :)
