Happy New Year! While you were sleeping, the proverbial slate has been wiped clean. This is the first day of the rest of your writing career.

While it's tempting to brood over how time flew in 2008 even though we weren't having fun and to whine over the impossibility of achieving $ucce$$ in this brutal economy, we can't afford the luxury of a pity party.

2009 is the year to start off on the right foot by taking ourselves seriously so family, friends, and editors will too.

Has your work been published? Congratulations! Now is the time to set higher expectations and submit to better paying markets.

Waiting for that first contract? You're still a WRITER. Take yourself seriously enough to show up for work every day no matter what else happens in your life.

Follow these simple steps to success: Write. Submit. Repeat.
